[OGC] Staff Guide

OGC is a gymnastics group focused on highlighting the Roblox gymnastics community. We host monthly competitions with official requirements, deductions, and guidelines. These competitions give anyone of any physical ability the chance to compete in the sport digitally. Our space is accepting to all genders, ages, orientations, and nationalities.

General Expectations

  • Staff are expected to contribute to the group appropriately for their position. Each staff position has a certain role within the community. For example, coaches’ main role within OGC is to teach and train gymnasts the routine requirements of their level, and to ensure their routine matches the skill-set. Role-specific expectations will be further in this guide.

  • Staff are expected to be active within the group and community. It is definitely not reasonable to ask staff to dedicate the majority of their time to this position, but fulfilling your expectations is ideal (there’s no set amount of time you should be online). Your activity level completely depends on your individual lifestyle and what other commitments you have elsewhere online and in real life. If a staff member will be inactive for awhile, we ask that you let us know ahead of time and you’ll be temporarily ranked “Inactive Staff” to avoid confusion.

  • Staff are expected to be a positive role-model within the community. Your behavior on and even off of OGC related games/groups reflects back on the community. We ask that staff refrain from activities that include bullying, scamming, discussing adult topics, and other activities that aren’t acceptable on the Roblox platform. Many players within the community look up to staff as role-models, and we want to make sure it’s positive.

Events

At OGC, we host various events from training, to movie-nights, to even pool parties. In this section, we will discuss how to host each event, what is expected, etc.

Training Sessions/Practices

Training sessions and practices can be hosted by any staff member, not just limited to coaches. The purpose of a training session/practice is to aid gymnasts in their understanding of their routine requirements, help match their routine to the skill-set, and to help with trickier skills (such as bar transitions). Here are the steps to successfully run a training session:

  • Select a time and date you are available to host a training session or practice. Keep in mind that this will take anywhere between 45 to 90 minutes. Avoid hosting events at the same time as other scheduled events.

  • After selecting your time, post it on the group wall and Discord (on the #practices channel). Always remember to mention the time and date in Eastern Standard Time. Here is an example of a standard group wall shout:

[ANNOUNCEMENT] Signups are open on our Twitter! [PRACTICE] Practice with Coach Joe at 8:30pm Eastern. [QOTD] What is your favorite flavor chips?

  • Arrive to the gym 15 minutes before your training session/practice is set the begin. Remind gymnasts that it’s about to start. You also want to join the top server, so there’s less confusion.

  • Once the practice time starts, get all gymnasts to participate in a warmup. This will get the players ready to follow instructions. Some warmup activities include stretching, laps around the mat, and “copy the flip” games.

  • Start the actual training at this point. How you go about this is completely up to you. Some staff like to separate each level to each event, some prefer to all start in one group. Whatever works best!
Tip: having the routine requirements open is very helpful!

  • Toward the end of a training session/practice, have a fun activity or minigame relating to gymnastics. Some idea include Simon Says (gymnast version), Gymnast Statues, Four Corners, etc.

Game Nights & Pool Parties

Game Nights and Pool Parties are pre-scheduled events. There is generally one Game Night and one Pool Party per month. The date and time of these events will be announced one to three days before the event. These events will always need extra staff to help out.

Pool Parties are very casual events hosted in a separate “Pool Party” game on the group. This game will open the day of the event. Here are what staff could help with:

  • Playing music with the :music commands

  • Making sure the lines to the water-slides are neat and orderly

  • Hosting fun activities such as the dunk tank, swimming races, etc.

Game Nights are hosted within the OGC gym. During gamenights, there will be several minigames hosted including:

  • Four Corners

  • Simon Says

  • Hide and Seek/Tag

  • Musical Statues

  • Floor is Lava

  • Guess the Song (or Guess the Disney Movie based on the song)

Movie Nights

Movie Night is an event that is hosted by KardashianKlan once a month. This is when gymnasts are welcome to join and watch a movie together on the rabbit streaming service through Twitter.

Staff may request/vote for movies, but here are the requirements:

  • The movie must be appropriate for ages 13 or below (G or PG). There cannot have religious themes, strong language, or adult-content within the film.

  • The movie must be available on Canadian Netflix.

Previously viewed films include Zootopia, Beauty and the Beast, Moana, Full Out, Coraline, Maleficent, Tangled, Elf, and Chalk it Up.

During events, staff are expected to be polite and not abuse admin commands. A list of allowed commands are:

  • :bring
  • :to
  • :tp
  • :watch
  • :fly
  • :unfly
  • :clip
  • :noclip
  • :m
  • :n
  • :setmessage
  • :freeze (for minigames)
  • :unfreeze (for minigames)
  • :gear (for minigames)
  • :blind (for minigames)
  • :unblind (for minigames)
  • :speed (for minigames)
  • :fire (for minigames)
  • :unfire (for minigames)

Some other commands may be used for specific circumstances. Always use common sense. If it’s abusive, don’t do it.

Competitions

We host gymnastic competitions monthly. Coaches and Photographers have the choice to compete. Judges and Helpers cannot compete

Signups for competitions generally come out at the 1st of any given month, and stay open for around a week (may close early if spots are filled). The signups will be posted on our Twitter: www.twitter.com/RobloxGymnastic

Schedules will be released after signups have closed. There are around 60-80 gymnasts scheduled for each time session per level.

  • Staff Signups to judge or help will be posted on the #staff_announcements channel on Discord. Coaches and Photographers may choose to compete or help with the competition. If a staff member is unavailable to attend the competition that month, that is perfectly fine!

  • When judging during a competition, always have Routine Requirements & Deductions open! It is very hard to remember all of them, and you do not want to be guessing. Scores are meant to be unbiased and exact to the requirements and deductions. It helps to have a calculator on hand as well!

  • If someone needs help during the competition, post in the #competition staff channel on the Discord. Then, a helper or coach who is helping is able to assist to help the competition run smoothly.

Competing as a Staff Member

Some staff may wish to compete. Here are the guidelines for each rank.

Judge: Judges may choose to compete for a given month, but they cannot judge during that month. Before judges choose to compete, they have to let KardashianKlan know ahead of time.

Helper: Helpers may choose to compete for a given month, and they can also help that month as long as they are not helping judes with scores. Before helpers choose to compete, they have to let KardashianKlan know ahead of time. Helpers obviously cannot compete the same time they are scheduled to help, this would be a scheduling confict.

Coach: Coaches are allowed to help and compete in the same given month, as long as there are no scheduling conflicts.

Photographer: Photographers are allowed to take photos/videos and compete in the same given month, as long as there are no scheduling conflicts.

In-Training: Staff members who are in-training are allowed to help and compete in the same given month, as long as they are not helping with judge’s scores and there’s no scheduling conflicts.

Note: Staff members cannot abuse their powers to give themselves, other gymnasts, or teams advantages or disadvantages while competing. While these are the general guidelines about staff competing, there are always exceptions in case-by-case scenarios. Kard has the final decision on if someone can compete.
